At the Adolescent Fitness Center we believe that the answer lies in the three E’s.
At AFC our primary goal is to empower your child to make better lifestyle choices. The only way to do so is through education. When your child comes to AFC, he/she will be involved in some very entertaining and delightful activities, all of which are designed to give the child a total body workout.
While our exercise bikes, weight machines and dance machines are viewed by the children as primarily fun activities, they do far more! Each machine is specifically designed to give the child a very specific work out and develop a high degree of coordination, muscle development and mental acuity.
As part of their daily exercise program our highly trained personnel will discuss with your child the pro and cons of certain dietary habits. At AFC, we don’t utilize a special diet. We know that people, including children have to live in the real world and make choices from what is available to them everyday. So we teach them to make good choices.
We believe that making good food choices is the only way to have a healthy life. These healthy food choices must consist of large amounts of fruits, vegetables, nuts and berries. Consumption of refined sugars, carbonated beverages, fast food and pre-prepared meals is discouraged. Some children may be placed on high protein, low carbohydrate and low fat meal replacements if the situation warrants it.
AFC offers an intense twelve week exercise and easy nutritional program. Exercise without a change in dietary habits will result in only a slight weight loss, however the addition of dietary changes will result in marked weight loss, increased energy and a better lifestyle for your child.
Every child that participates in AFC’s program will have an understanding of nutrition. Your child will know about protein, fats, carbohydrates, calories and label reading. Your child will know and understand the food pyramid (Mayo Clinic) recommendations. Nutritional information will be given to attendees on a daily basis. Our goal is to empower each and every child to take control of his or her dietary intake. Daily food diaries will be kept and evaluated.
We believe that empowering your child is the best way to help make permanent changes in their life.
Meal replacements and dietary supplements can be provided if needed.
